Advanced Asphalt Slab Roller Compactor | Burgan UAE

The Advanced Asphalt Slab Roller Compactor is a fully electromechanical slab compaction system by Controls SPA for preparing asphalt slabs to a target density applying specific loads corresponding to those of pavement rollers used in highway construction, available across UAE and GCC through Burgan Equipment Co.

Overview

The Advanced Asphalt Slab Roller Compactor features the innovative PRO-COMPACT closed-loop control system — a mechanical and electronic control that combines orthogonality of the load, pendulum motion of the head, and sinusoidal non-friction forward-reverse carriage movement. This results in an optimally compacted sample featuring Planarity, Regularity, and Homogeneity (PRO). The system is fully compliant with EN 12697-33 method 7.3 and ASTM D8079.

The Advanced Asphalt Slab Roller Compactor can be used as part of a Superpave performance-based testing program. Slabs produced can be used for wheel tracking tests down to 38mm thickness, cored to provide specimens for indirect tensile and dynamic creep tests, or cut into beams for bending fatigue tests.

The system integrates seamlessly with FHWA FlexMAT and FlexPAVE software, making it a complete solution for modern pavement design and analysis workflows.

Advanced Asphalt Slab Roller Compactor — Key Performance Features

  • PRO-COMPACT Closed-Loop Control: The Advanced Asphalt Slab Roller Compactor features a combined load and displacement compaction procedure. At the beginning of the test, a controlled displacement compaction grants a flat surface on the compacted slab, followed by a load compaction phase that replicates real compaction on the road surface.

  • 21-Inch Touchscreen PC Control: The system is controlled by a fully integrated 21-inch all-in-one touchscreen PC running Windows software. Operators can program customized compaction sequences as a free combination of load and displacement controlled cycles, which can be saved and recalled from the database.

  • Stepper Motor Vertical Control: The roller segment is moved vertically under displacement control by a precision stepper motor with real-time measurement of specimen thickness via linear transducer. Compaction load is measured and controlled in closed-loop by two precision strain gauge load cells.

  • Five Mould Size Options: The Advanced Asphalt Slab Roller Compactor accommodates five interchangeable mould sizes — 320x260mm, 300x300mm, 400x300mm, 500x300mm, and 500x400mm — all with 195mm height, providing flexibility for different specimen requirements and test standards.

  • Adjustable Trolley Speed: The mould carriage speed is user-adjustable up to 300mm/second with a programmable pause at the mould inversion point, allowing operators to precisely control the compaction process for different asphalt mix types and densities.

  • Optional Vibrating Roller: An optional motor vibrator roller with adjustable frequency from 10 to 50Hz is available, providing additional compaction energy for dense or stiff asphalt mixes.

  • Optional Base Heating System: Optional heated sector head and base heating system are available to maintain the correct asphalt temperature during compaction, ensuring accurate and repeatable results regardless of ambient laboratory temperature.
