Overview
The Kinematic Viscometers Bitumen kit by Controls SPA includes Cannon-Fenske opaque viscometers, Zeitfuchs cross-arm viscometers, and BS U-Tube modified reverse flow viscometers — each supplied complete with a calibration certificate. All viscometer types are designed for use with the 81-PV0116/A viscometer bath, which maintains uniform temperature throughout the test with precision accuracy of ±0.03°C.
The viscometer bath is a central component of the kit, consisting of a cylindrical glass vessel with stainless steel cover, motor stirrer, refrigerating coil, heating system, and PID contact thermometer. It accommodates up to 6 viscometer tubes simultaneously, making it suitable for high-throughput bitumen quality control laboratories.
Kinematic Viscometers Bitumen — Types Included
Cannon-Fenske Opaque Viscometers: These are used for the determination of kinematic viscosity of liquid asphalts and bitumens at 60°C and distillation residue of liquid asphalts and asphalt cements at 135°C. Cannon-Fenske opaque models are specifically suitable for opaque liquids. Available in a wide range from 0.035 cSt/S (7–35 cSt) up to 20 cSt/S (4000–20000 cSt). Each viscometer is supplied with a calibration certificate.
Zeitfuchs Cross-Arm Viscometers: Used for the determination of kinematic viscosity of liquid asphalts, bitumens, road oils, and distillation residues at 135°C. Available in eight ranges from 0.1 cSt/S (20–100 cSt) up to 100 cSt/S (20000–100000 cSt). Each viscometer is supplied with a calibration certificate and requires the 81-B0116/H2 holder for use in the viscometer bath.
BS U-Tube Modified Reverse Flow Viscometers: Used for the determination of kinematic viscosity of liquid asphalts, bitumens, road oils, and distillation residues at 135°C. Available in nine ranges from 0.1 cSt/S (6–100 cSt) up to 300 cSt/S (18000–300000 cSt). Each viscometer is supplied with a calibration certificate and requires the 81-B0116/H3 holder for use in the viscometer bath.
